AUTISM TESTING (ADOS-2)
Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects each person differently, shaping how they experience social connection, communication, sensory input, and daily routines. Because no two presentations are exactly alike, an accurate evaluation requires a structured, validated assessment — not just a checklist. We use the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition), the gold-standard, evidence-based tool for autism assessment. The ADOS-2 evaluates communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviors across a range of developmental levels and language abilities. We provide this evaluation for ages 3 through adult.
Signs of Autism
Recognizing the signs of ASD is an important first step. While every individual is different, common signs include:
Challenges with social communication or reading social cues
Difficulty maintaining conversation or understanding nonverbal communication
Strong preference for routines and significant distress when routines change
Sensory sensitivities to lights, sounds, textures, smells, or movement
Intense, focused interests in specific topics or objects
Repetitive movements or speech patterns
Delayed language development or unconventional language use
A longstanding sense of feeling "different" or difficulty fitting in socially
Previous concern raised by a teacher, pediatrician, or other professional Early diagnosis and intervention can significantly improve outcomes and quality of life. It's never too late to seek clarity — autism evaluations are valuable for adults, too.
How the ADOS-2 Assessment Works
Our autism evaluation is conducted across three appointments, each serving a distinct and essential purpose:
Appointment 1 — Intake and Background: This session is held with the parent or guardian for clients under 18, or directly with the adult client. We gather developmental history, current concerns, and background information that is essential to a thorough evaluation. This appointment is required and cannot be skipped.
Appointment 2 — The Full Assessment: The structured ADOS-2 evaluation takes place during this session. Our clinician conducts standardized observations and activities designed to assess communication, social interaction, and behavior in a supportive, natural setting.
Appointment 3 — Results and Recommendations: Results are reviewed with you in a dedicated feedback session. Our clinician will explain findings clearly, answer your questions, and provide personalized recommendations — whether that is therapy, school accommodations, additional support, or simply a deeper understanding of strengths and needs.
Pricing and Insurance for ADOS-2 Testing
The cash pay rate for the complete ADOS-2 evaluation (all three appointments combined) is $450, due in full prior to results being provided if insurance does not cover the assessment.
We accept all Medicaid plans and MCOs, all commercial insurance, and Medicare for ADOS-2 testing.
Please note the following insurance-specific information:
United Healthcare and Cigna do not cover our testing sessions. The self-pay rate of $450 applies.
Anthem will not reimburse if the first or third appointments are conducted via telehealth. These appointments must be in-person for Anthem members. Contact us with your insurance information and we will help you understand your coverage and costs before your first appointment.

ADHD TESTING AND EVALUATION
Answers That Change Everything
ADHD is far more than difficulty sitting still. It is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that can affect focus, organization, emotional regulation, time management, relationships, and self-esteem—in children and adults alike. Many people live for years without a diagnosis, attributing their struggles to character flaws or simply not trying hard enough. An accurate evaluation changes that narrative. At Resolutions Therapy Practice, we offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for both children and adults, using evidence-based tools including clinical interviews, standardized rating scales, and cognitive testing. Our evaluations are personalized, thorough, and designed to give you the clarity and documentation you need to move forward.
Signs That May Prompt an ADHD Evaluation
An ADHD assessment may be a helpful next step if you or your child experiences:
Persistent difficulty sustaining focus, especially on tasks that feel repetitive or low-interest
Impulsivity or difficulty with self-control and emotional regulation
Hyperactivity, restlessness, or an inability to feel settled
Chronic disorganization, missed deadlines, or difficulty managing time
Struggles in school or work performance despite genuine effort
Forgetfulness or frequently losing important items
A history of being told you're "not reaching your potential"
ADHD traits that look different than the stereotype, especially in girls, women, and adults who have learned to mask their symptoms
Remember, ADHD is not a character flaw. It's a recognized condition that can be effectively understood and managed with a proper diagnosis and the right support.

The ADOS-2 evaluation is conducted across three appointments. The first gathers background information from the parent or guardian (for minors) or the adult client. The second is the full assessment session. The third is the feedback and results appointment. All three appointments are required and cannot be combined or skipped.
-
The cash pay rate for the complete ADOS-2 evaluation, all three appointments combined, is $450. This amount is due in full prior to results being provided if insurance does not cover the assessment. We accept all Medicaid plans, all commercial insurance, and Medicare. United Healthcare does not cover our testing sessions, so the self-pay rate of $450 applies for those members. Contact us with your insurance information and we will help clarify your costs before you schedule.

Some components of our evaluations can be conducted via telehealth; however, certain insurance plans have restrictions. Anthem members, for example, must attend the first and third appointments in-person. Our team will help you navigate your specific insurance situation and determine the best scheduling approach for you.

Yes. We accept all Medicaid plans and MCOs, all commercial insurance, and Medicare for our testing services. We recommend contacting us with your insurance information before scheduling so we can help you understand your benefits.

Our assessments can provide meaningful documentation to support conversations with schools about 504 plans and accommodations. For IEP eligibility in Kentucky public schools, the determination is made by the school's evaluation team. Our reports can be part of that process. We're happy to discuss your child's specific situation and what documentation may be needed.
-

Our practice also has board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners on staff who offer medication management services and can work directly from your evaluation results. We will help coordinate that care for you.
-
We encourage collaboration. With your written consent (a Release of Information) your therapist's observations and insights can meaningfully inform the evaluation and lead to a more complete, accurate picture. If you are already a client at Resolutions Therapy Practice, simply let us know when scheduling and we'll coordinate from there.
-
Our ADHD and autism assessments are comprehensive clinical evaluations using validated, evidence-based tools. Some situations, such as certain employer accommodations, federal disability benefits, or specific academic requirements, may require a full psychological evaluation completed by a licensed psychologist (PhD or PsyD). If that applies to your situation, our team will discuss your needs and provide appropriate referrals.
