Nancy Gilmer, LPCC-S: Lexington
I believe therapy is at its best when we explore your needs Holistically, as a whole person. Your MIND; your thinking and behaviors, your BODY; which holds tension due to painful emotions, stress, anxiety and depression, and your SPIRIT; which is the essential you at the deepest level. I will follow your lead.
With over 20 years of experience as a licensed mental health and substance use therapist, plus my life experience, I can help you discover what is holding you back from what you want or need for your life. I specialize in Mindfulness Practice & Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) both of which can expand your ability to minimize daily stressors and self-doubt. Learning to live in the moment, not regretting the past, or being worried about the future can free you from unnecessary stress and worry.
ART provides a means of changing unhealthy thinking and behaviors by eliminating or minimizing the fear, anxiety, and the symptoms of trauma. I tend to blend the Eastern Philosophies, such as The Tao, with Western Psychotherapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to work in the here and now to explore, reframe and modify unhealthy thinking and behaviors. I expect our therapeutic relationship to be collaborative.
