Cody Hester, LPCA: Florence
Hi, my name is Cody. After attaining my Master of Science in School Counseling at Mississippi State University, I started working on my Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision. Counseling for me is companionship, and companions are with you through the good and the not-so-good. The most important thing for me in counseling is creating a relationship where people can feel and think how they want to about their experience within the relationship. I utilize a variety of integrated theories and techniques such as Play therapy techniques, CBT, REBT, DBT techniques, Reality/Choice theory, Narrative therapy techniques, and Parent, Adult, and Child (PAC) theory. Everyone lives life through different lenses. Biological, physiological, and environmental variables influence those perspectives in different domains of people’s lives. My school counseling degree also supports me in providing informed care on the language and experiences of all developmental stages through relationships, identity, a full range of emotions, lack of emotions, grief, trauma, adverse and complex trauma, oppositional behaviors, and other emotional behaviors.
Katy Larson, LPCC, Lead Clinical Director: Lexington
Being a human in this world can be so difficult and confusing! I love to help people become a version of themselves they can feel good about. If we are not clear on what our personal values and goals are, we can end up feeling lost with no direction. My training helps me to help people gain insight into the ways their past experiences have shaped their present. The process of changing and doing things differently often involves working through difficult feelings such as grief, shame, and regret; no one should have to deal with these feelings alone. The better we understand ourselves, the more empowered we are to take control of our lives and become our most authentic selves. I am here to provide a safe space and to create the conditions necessary for healing and lasting change. My approach is eclectic; psychodynamic & person-centered informed by feminist & existential theories. I frequently work with autistic folks, LGBTQIA+ folks, trauma/dissociative disorders, and identity/existential issues.

I offer couples therapy and individual therapy with an approach that emphasizes factors outside awareness affecting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In couples therapy, I'll help you examine maladaptive interactions maintaining relationship problems. Like a dance instructor, I'll observe and intervene as interactions occur in our sessions to help you "dance better" together. In individual therapy, we'll explore emotional problems making life or relationships difficult, examining relationships as systems and identifying important themes and patterns. I'm a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Master of Science in Family Sciences and practice as a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate under supervision.
